Mulholland Drive
49” x 61.5” | fabric | 2021 Made out of thousands of tiny, hand-cut pieces of fabric, the work was inspired by and abstracted from a photograph I shot at dusk at a scenic overlook facing the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, California (see image above). The colors reference the evening color palette of the dark canyon below and the vivid city lights in the distance.
Mulholland Drive is one of the most well-known scenic thoroughfares in the United States. Opened in 1924, the winding highway stretches high above the Hollywood Hills and over towards the Pacific Ocean.
